Smiths Beach, Phillip Island (Millowl), Bunurong Country
This is where I’d much rather be today. The sun is out and spring is in the air here on country, but there’s a cloud hanging over this beautiful day.
We reached our 100th day of lockdown due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Here in Melbourne, it’s stage 4 restrictions all round and the hardest one personally is only being permitted to travel 5km from home. That puts me a couple hundred metres short of being able to go to the beach.
It has been months since I saw the waves, felt the sand between my toes and watched the pink sunset descend. It feels like a lifetime. The thalassophile is in me is itching to go back.
